Weekly Fishing Report by: Dean Edwards
The fishing at the marina has been increased somewhat in the number of people who are coming out for a time to fish. School is out at most of the area schools. This brings more kids with parents or grandparents. This past week there were a few people who caught a couple of good crappie. Then the report I received from one fisherman was that he managed to catch 9 “keepers” yesterday on the marina. Most of these were caught on jigs with crappie “nibbles”. One of my buddies who only occasionally catches some good crappie told me he caught a “keeper” as well. The catfish are still pretty active with one fisherman who caught 5 or 6 using “stinky “ dough bait and the better sized one weighed about 4 lbs. Other families , grandmother and grandkids, when shown how and where to fish for bream managed to catch close to 20 hand-sized “copper bellies” on worms. Bream are many people’s favorite type of fish to catch and also to eat at the dinner table.
It has always been my private conviction that any man
who pits his intelligence against a fish and loses has it coming. |
